Publishing, Copyright and IP: Protect, Collect and Earn.
23rd February 2010
Meeting Room 5A1, Bristol
Information
This one-off, free, introductory workshop will explore key aspects of publishing, copyright and intellectual property both in the traditional model and the modern online and digital arena.
In the modern music industry it is essential to be fully armed with knowledge of how to both protect and exploit copyright and how you can make the many different options open to you to promote and retail your music work for you to create income.
The workshop will be led by Music Industry Education Ltd with special guest speaker Andrew Gummer.
Andrew Gummer has worked in many areas across the music industry over the past 25 years including EMI, Virgin Records and Publishing, Warner/Chappell, Mushroom Records and Boosey and Hawkes. He left the last days of training as a barrister for ad in the newspaper offering a salary (miserable but a start) and music industry experience (much less miserable). He has a strong interest and involvement in the development of new technologies to market and distribute music and how the industry needs to grow some imagination to deal with its uncertain future.
Andrew is currently Director of Business Affairs at Boosey & Hawkes and leads a team responsible for Copyright, Licensing and Legal affairs.
The workshop will take place in the events space at Hamilton House, Stokes Croft, Bristol between 6pm and 9pm on Tues 23rd February.
