Leon Alexander will discuss the demise of the traditional record label and compare various views of the future focussing ultimately on two specific trains of thought: Firstly direct to fan and premium style sales on one hand and steaming sales from Spotify or similar on the other. He will also discuss how to how to market yourself, how to find and then reach your target audience and which tools to use for promotion. He will discuss sales figures, how the splits add up, who has the biggest sales, digital aggregators – who to deal with and how to approach them, and direct to fan sales what you need to do it yourself?
The lecture will be in two parts.
Part 1 Wednesday 5th May @ 7pm and Part 2 Wednesday 12th May @ 7pm
