		<description><![CDATA[Following on from the success of the sold-out event in 2009, Music South West returns for its second year! ]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hosted by Music Industry Education (MIE), MSW 2010 will start on Wednesday 24th November with an evening of networking for delegates and speakers. Industry talks, seminars, break out groups, and discussions will take place throughout Thursday 25th November at the Watershed. More details on speakers, panels and discussion topics will be posted up here shortly&#8230;</p>
<p>The MSW Fringe also returns for its second year and this year will take in even more venues. On both Wednesday and Thursday night, the finest new acts from the South West will play various venues across the city.</p>

Music IE will be running courses and daytime seminars during the festival so do come and find us. We&#8217;ll be announcing a more detailed program nearer the time. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>June 16th sees a new Seminar brought by Bristol composer, orchestrator and conductor William Goodchild. <a href="http://musicindustryeducation.net/index.php/Event/7">Book Here</a></p>
<p>William composes and produces music for film, television and concert performance. As a composer he specialises in wildlife and history documentary and has scored films for major  broadcasters including BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, National Geographic International and Animal Planet.  Recent wildlife commissions include ‘Wild Japan’ (National Geographic,  2010), ‘Wild Russia’ (National Geographic, 2009), and ‘Lobo – the Wolf that Changed  America’ (BBC Natural World, 2008). ‘Lobo’ won the Outstanding Achievement Award at the<br />
Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival 2009 and the Jury’s Special Prize at the 2008 Wildscreen  Global Wildlife and Environmental Film Festival. History features include specials for Channel 4 such as ‘Athens – the Truth about Democracy’ (2007), and ‘When the Moors Ruled in Europe’ (2006).  </p>
<p>As orchestrator and conductor William works with the BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and London Metropolitan Orchestra. He has undertaken numerous projects for the BBC with a variety of composers including Barnaby Taylor, Ben Salisbury and<br />
David Poore. ‘Nature’s Great  Events’, broadcast last year on BBC1 was subsequently performed as a live concert in Colston Hall, conducted by William, as part of its new launch festival. ‘Wild China’ (2008), composed by Barnaby Taylor and orchestrated and conducted by William, won an Emmy in 2009 for Music and Sound. William has collaborated on stage and in the recording studio with a wide variety of international soloists including John Williams, Andy Sheppard, Tom Jones and most recently Roni Size &amp; Reprazent.  A number of William’s recordings are available on Sony Classical, Universal Classical and Jazz, and<br />
CBS Records.</p>
<p>William teaches on the Film and Television Music MA at Bristol University. This summer he is working with the BBC Concert Orchestra on a Music for Film project with 20 young people as part of the Bristol Festival of Nature 2010.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h2>Publishing, Copyright and IP: Protect, Collect and Earn.</h2>
<p>In association with <strong>Music Industry Education Ltd</strong>, the BMF presents a new series of courses and workshops for musicians, music businesses, teachers and music leaders, of all levels, abilities, and genres of music in 2010.</p>
<p>We kick this off on <strong>23rd February 2010</strong> with <strong>Publishing, Copyright and IP: Protect, Collect, and Earn. </strong></p>
<p>This one-off, free, introductory workshop will explore key aspects of publishing, copyright and intellectual property both in the traditional model and the modern online and digital arena.</p>
<p>In the modern music industry it is essential to be fully armed with knowledge of how to both protect and exploit copyright and how you can make the many different options open to you to promote and retail your music work for you to create income.</p>
<p>The workshop will be led by Music Industry Education Ltd with special guest speaker <strong>Andrew Gummer</strong>.</p>
<p>Andrew is Director of Business Affairs at Boosey &amp; Hawkes and has previously led business affairs departments at EMI, Warners, and Mushroom Records. Andrew heads up a team at Boosey &amp; Hawkes that covers Copyright, Licensing and Legal affairs.</p>
<p>The workshop will take place in the events space at <strong>Hamilton House,</strong> Stokes Croft, Bristol between 6pm and 9pm on <strong>Tues 23rd February</strong>.</p>
